Professor William Lewis Annual Scholarship

“Praised by President Arliss Roaden at the commemoration of the current MET building
(Industrial Technology and Industrial Arts Building previously) in 1981, President Roaden stated,
“Professor Lewis is loved and respected by all whose lives have been touched by him.”

The Tennessee Chapter of the American Foundry Society has decided to create a scholarship to encourage future foundrymen and women prepare for a career in the metalcasting industry. Students applying need to be enrolled in foundry-based classes in an FEF certified/affiliated educational institution with the intention of working in the metalcasting industry upon graduation.

Most of the team creating this scholarship worked in foundries or steel mills during college and received scholarships of the like, which allowed them to focus on their education and graduate. It is hoped that this scholarship will help produce bright and successful students for our industry.

Since there is more to success in this industry than just good grades, we will be looking for evidence of industry involvement, internships/co-ops/lab work, and volunteer work which all can contribute to students becoming successful foundrymen and women.

We look forward to working with you and watching your success unfold.

The scholarship is not to exceed $11,000 per academic calendar year.
